Bryan Fenton

U.S. Army

Colonel Bryan P. Fenton is currently serving as an Army Fellow and Associate at the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy in the Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.  Bryan was commissioned into the Army from the University of Notre Dame as an Infantry officer in 1987. He is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic and Advanced courses, U.S. Army Airborne School, the Special Forces Assessment and Selection Course, Special Forces Qualification Course, the U.S. Army Ranger School, Infantry Mortar Platoon Leaders Course, Military Free Fall Parachutist Course, U.S. Army Jumpmaster Course, numerous foreign courses to include the French Commando course and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

 

Colonel Fenton's previous assignments include: Infantry Rifle Platoon Leader, Mortar Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer in the 502nd  Infantry; Aide-de-Camp; Detachment Commander for Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha (SFODA) 716, Assistant S3 and S3 for 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne); SFOD-A/B Observer Controller at the Joint Readiness Training Center; Battalion Commander in the 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne), and various command and operational staff positions in the United States Army Office of Military Support, the latest was Battalion Command.  

 

Bryan holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame, a Master of Military Arts and Science from the Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, and is currently in a fellowship with the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy at Georgetown in Washington, D.C.

 

Colonel Fentons research interest will focus on the Interagency (DoD/DoS) support to and integration with U.S. Embassies and applicable Host Nations in support of counter-terrorism operations outside of Iraq and Afghanistan.  Bryan is married to the former Dawn Leggett of Texas and has two daughters, Nora and Cecilia.
