ISD Announces 2013-2014 Junior Fellows

ISD selected six Junior Fellows from MSFS and BSFS to conduct research during the 2013-2014 academic year. They will work closely with advisors from the university and the Washington, D.C. practitioner community to produce research papers for presentation in April 2014. 2012-2013 ISD Junior Fellow Dena Sholk (BSFS '13) worked with Amb. Steven Pifer to produce a research paper on "The Denuclearization of Kazakhstan (1991-1995)."

Diplomacy, Development and Security in the Information Age

ISD's newest publication explores new hallmarks of international relations: heightened transparency and increased volatility. Contributing authors discuss issues ranging from cybersecurity to diplomacy and fragile states, the book points toward a foreign policy strategy of resilience, credibility and adaptability for harnessing opportunities in the information age. In Memoriam: Ambassadors Max Kampelman and Mark Palmer

The Institute for the Study of Diplomacy is deeply saddened by the passing of two distinguished U.S. ambassadors who have been integral parts of the Institute and the Georgetown community for many years. Honoring two of diplomacy's finest.

Diplomacy in a Time of Scarcity

The American Academy of Diplomacy released a new report in October 2012, Diplomacy in a Time of Scarcity, which analyzes the foreign affairs agencies' personnel situations in light of significantly changed circumstances and makes recommendations to deal with the new realities. Among the document signatories are both ISD Board of Directors Chairman Thomas R. Pickering and ISD Board Member Thomas D. Boyatt.
