Colin Geraghty is a graduate student in Georgetown’s Security Studies Program, with a focus on U.S. national security policy and African affairs. Georgetown awarded him a grant to travel to France, Senegal, Mali, and Cameroon in the summer of 2015 to examine U.S. and French security cooperation policies, and the perspective of local actors. He is also the co-founder and director of the NxGen International Security Network, a solutions-oriented nonprofit that seeks to empower the next generation of leaders and help them acquire the skills and networks they need to succeed.
Colin lived in France for 16 years. Since moving back to the U.S., he has experienced life on Capitol Hill, with a think tank, and in the private sector. His research has been quoted in the Washington Post and Le Monde. He was also fortunate to intern for the Boston Celtics for one thrilling summer. After graduating from the program, Colin hopes to work for the U.S. government on managing and developing the U.S. strategy towards Africa.
