Juan Manuel Guzman was born and raised in the city of Cochabamba, Bolivia. At the age of 17, he moved to the United States and worked every job he could in order to pay the expenses of his education including learning the English language. Given his experience as a migrant, Juan Manuel began to have a particular interest in social issues, which motivated him to finish his A.A. Degree in International Studies at Montgomery College. Thanks to the Wilson Presidential Scholarship, he transferred to University of Baltimore where he completed his Bachelor’s Degree with honors. In 2012, Juan Manuel interned at the Embassy of Bolivia where he had the opportunity to work in different areas and, thanks to this opportunity, he decided to strengthen his understanding of the Latin American region. Currently, he is part of Georgetown’s Center for Latin American Studies where he pursues the M.A. program concentrating in government and diplomacy.
