Mordica Simpson served as Deputy Economic Counselor at the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia, and previously as the Special Assistant to the Department of State’s Under Secretary for Political Affairs covering the Western Hemisphere. Other tours include the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala City, where she managed labor and human rights issues, as well as a Brazil desk officer in Washington, where she covered political and military issues. She plans to conduct research on the role of Latin America as an energy source for the United States.
Mordica joined the Foreign Service in 2004 as a Political Officer. She received her Master’s Degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in International Economics and American Foreign Policy, and her undergraduate degree in History from Yale University.
