Cynthia Waite (Cyndi) is a second year student in Georgetown University’s Master of Science in Foreign Service Program. She received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in film studies and English in 2008. After college, she interned in the editorial department at Ms. Magazine in Los Angeles. From 2009-2010, she taught English in Japan through the prestigious Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme. In 2010, she moved to Washington DC as a news producer for the Japanese TV station TV Asahi, where she covered the State Department, Congress, the Pentagon, and the White House. In addition to her communications and media experience, she has worked in research and analysis as a graduate fellow in the foreign policy department of the Congressional Research Service. She spent the summer of 2015 as an intern in the political section at the US embassy in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Cyndi is a 2014 Charles B. Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellow and will join the United States Foreign Service after completing her master’s degree in 2016. Cyndi originally hails from the state of Georgia.
