STUART E. EIZENSTAT has held numerous senior positions in U.S. government, including chief domestic policy adviser to President Jimmy Carter and, during the Clinton administration, U.S. ambassador to the European Union, undersecretary of Commerce, undersecretary of State, and deputy secretary of the Treasury. He has served as the U.S. special representative on Holocaust issues under Presidents Clinton, Obama, Trump, and Biden.
Eizenstat is the author of several books, including The Art of Diplomacy: How American Negotiators Reached Historic Agreements That Changed the World (2024), President Carter: The White House Years (2018), The Future of the Jews (2012), and Imperfect Justice (2003). He is currently an international lawyer with Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, DC, and serves as chairman of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum Council, appointed by President Joe Biden.
