Invites you to a
Celebration of Exceptional Diplomatic Service and Constructive Dissent
Wednesday, October 1st, 2025
4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Lohrfink Auditorium, Harari Building
Georgetown University
For nearly 50 years, the American Foreign Service Association (AFSA) – the labor union and professional association of the Foreign Service – has celebrated exceptional service and achievements in our nation’s diplomacy, including awards for the advancement of democracy and constructive dissent. For decades and across administrations, the Department of State was the only federal department with an authorized dissent channel. And, for decades, AFSA formally recognized Foreign Service members of all ranks and specialties who courageously worked toward positive change in policy and programs.
This year’s AFSA Awards Ceremony will be hosted by the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy.
AFSA will present 10 awards to 28 individuals – Foreign Service Officers and Specialists, and family members, as well as “Foreign Service Champions” who have supported diplomacy and those within the Foreign Service. To learn more about the awards, please visit afsa.org/awards.
Please join us in the celebration of diplomacy and the dedicated individuals who worked tirelessly to advance US interests and values, often in the most difficult of places and circumstances.
