Aurora Lopez
Master of Arts in Security Studies, McHenry Fellow
Aurora is a first-generation, transfer student who recently graduated from UC Berkeley with a Bachelors in Political Science. During her undergraduate years, she was accepted into the UCDC program where she interned at the Department of State, supporting Foreign Service Officers with training before they went abroad. Additionally, she participated in the Cal-in-Sacramento fellowship, where she interned at the California Department of Education supporting Superintendent Tony Thurmond's office. During this time, Aurora also conducted research that looked at specific barriers to higher education within the Arab community. She is also a recipient of the Critical Language Scholarship for the Arabic program. Post graduation, Aurora received the Gardner fellowship and completed her placement at the Department of State, specifically in the Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor bureau in the Middle East. She is now a Gaither fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, supporting the American Statecraft program.
