Lieutenant Colonel Brian Sullivan

Lieutenant Colonel Brian Sullivan comes to ISD from Headquarters, Department of the Army, where he worked as the Assistant Executive Officer to the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations.
Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan has led infantry units from the platoon to the battalion level and has multiple combat tours in both Afghanistan and Iraq. His most recent tour was in Kunar Province, Afghanistan where he led the coalition effort to transfer security authority to partner Afghan forces. Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan’s other assignments include serving as a strategic planner on the Joint Staff and as an instructor of advanced airborne operations.
His research interest focuses on the use of military force to mitigate the consequences of intra-border conflict in the human domain.
Lieutenant Colonel Sullivan earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Arts degree from Webster University. He is married to the former Shannon Logsdon; they have one son.
