Ishanee Chanda is currently pursuing the MSFS degree at Georgetown University, with a focus on refugee and humanitarian emergencies. She is particularly interested in refugee and migration issues, resettlement practices, the protection of human rights, and the rise of right-wing nationalism across the globe. Ishanee graduated with a B.A. in International Studies from Texas A&M University with a minor in Creative Writing. Following graduation, she worked at the National Conference of State Legislatures on federal and state immigration policy and international programming, providing research on states’ implementation of immigration policy, changes in federal immigration legislation, and international affairs between subnational actors. Ishanee hopes to pursue a career in refugee resettlement, humanitarian aid, and development, and speaks Italian, Bengali, Odia, and Hindi.
