Major Lance J. Ratterman

Major Lance J. Ratterman was a member of Air Mobility Command’s Phoenix Mobility Program assigned as Director of Operations, 817th Global Mobility Readiness Squadron, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. The 817 GMRS is responsible for employing military professionals to extend the air mobility enterprise by establishing and sustaining wide-spectrum airbase operations to support the Combatant Commander. The squadron is comprised of 26 Air Force specialty codes consisting of security forces, weather, intelligence, airfield operations, civil engineers, contracting and communications personnel ready to deploy to permissive and uncertain environments on short notice in order to bridge the gap between seizure and sustainment forces.
Phoenix Mobility is a command-level sponsored professional development program designed to develop officers with a strong foundation in expeditionary mobility operations while developing an understanding of senior leadership responsibilities. Upon completion, officers will have been exposed to the full spectrum of mobility operations and will be fluent in Air Operations Center operations, Contingency Response Wing operations, and En Route Mobility Operations.
Major Ratterman is a 2003 distinguished graduate of the University of Utah’s Reserve Officer Training Corps where he received his commission and a Bachelor of Science degree in Meteorology. He earned his Master of Arts degree with a focus in Management and Leadership from Webster University in 2009.
Major Ratterman deployed as the Deputy Joint Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) Officer for OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM at Camp Victory in Baghdad from October 2008 to April 2009 and as the Contingency Response Element Commander (CRE/CC) for OPERATION JUKEBOX SENTINEL at Ascension Island December 2013.
