Major Peter J. Amaral, III
U.S. Air Force Non-Resident Fellow
Major Peter J. Amaral III is the Chief of Group Plans and Programs, 595th Command and Control Group, Offutt Air Force Base, NE. He is responsible for the development and maintenance of worldwide current and strategic operations employment of the E-4B as well as coordinating inter-agency actions for deployment support requirements with foreign agencies, US embassies, and other Air Force major commands. The E- 4B provides a highly survivable command, control, and communications center to direct U.S. forces, execute emergency war orders, and coordinate actions by civil authorities through all phases of the threat spectrum.
Major Amaral received his commission in May 2005 through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps, graduating from Arizona State University. He attended Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training at NAS Whiting Field, FL. and Vance AFB, OK, earning his wings in March 2007. Major Amaral was a First Assignment Instructor Pilot in the T-1A JAYHAWK. Following his FAIP tour, Major Amaral was assigned to the RC-135V/W RIVET JOINT and subsequently to the E-4B, supporting the National Airborne Operations Center. He has been in instructor pilot in all three aircraft. Prior to his current position, Major Amaral was the Executive Officer to 55th Wing Commander, 55th Wing, Offutt AFB, Neb.
Major Amaral has deployed to USCENTCOM supporting Operation Enduring Freedom, USSOUTHCOM supporting Joint Interagency Task Force-South, as well as numerous worldwide exercises.
