Tristen Naylor

Dr Tristen Naylor is Director of the Oxbridge Diplomatic Academy, a premier ‘centre of excellence’ focused on diplomacy and international affairs based jointly in Oxford and Cambridge. Dr Naylor concurrently sits on the advisory boards of The Hauge Journal of International Diplomacy and London Politica, while also serving as the Deputy Director of the G7 and G20 Research Groups.
An expert in global summitry and multilateral diplomacy, Dr Naylor regularly features as an expert commentator for international media including the BBC, The Associated Press, Thomson Reuters, France24, and AL Jazeera. His most recent book, Social Closure and International Society, examines how international conferences have historically shaped political order.
Dr Naylor’s previous academic posts include serving as the Lecturer in Diplomatic Studies at the University of Oxford, as the Assistant Professor in International Relations and History at the University of Cambridge, and as a Fellow in International Relations at The London School of Economics. Dr Naylor has also held visiting posts at Sciences Po, New York University, and the Anwar Gargash Diplomatic Academy. In 2016 Dr Naylor was named ‘Most Acclaimed Lecturer’ at the Oxford and in 2019 he was recognised with the LSE’s Excellence in Education award.
Prior to his academic career Dr Naylor served as a Policy Analyst and Advisor to the Government of Canada. In 2008 was awarded the Canadian Public Service Award of Excellence by the Clerk of the Privy Council and Secretary to the Cabinet in recognition of his work.
