Title: Bernadette Meehan
Bernadette Meehan is the Chief International Officer at The Obama Foundation, following a 13-year career in the US Foreign Service.
“In my experience, the men who have been the greatest mentors to me would talk about how they were raised by strong women, their mothers were very strong, grounding influences for them. And all of them, to a person, were married to strong women, independent women who had amazing careers of their own, amazing ideas of their own, who were not shrinking violets. And, so I think when we grapple with issues of diversity, among the sexes in particular, we need to focus not just on uplifting and teaching women the right mindset, but empowering men to be supportive of women.”
