Ambassador (ret.) Linda Thomas-Greenfield was the inaugural Distinguished Resident Fellow in African Studies at the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy from fall 2017-spring 2019. She joined ISD in spring 2017 as a Senior State Department Fellow.

“Coming into the foreign service we all have to be generalists. You have to be flexible you have to be prepared to do whatever is put in front of you. But you also have to figure out how you stand out as a person and as a professional. What is it that makes you special that people want you on their team.”
