Ambassador Ya’el Lempert

Ambassador Yael Lempert is Vice President for Outreach at the Middle East Institute. A career member of the Senior Foreign Service with the rank of Career Minister, she most recently served as U.S. Ambassador to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan from 2023 to 2025. Earlier, she served as Acting Assistant Secretary and Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs and as Chargé d’Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in London. Over the course of her diplomatic career, she has held numerous senior policy and overseas assignments across the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
